The Real reason why USA doesn’t follow the metric system..

There is a weird historical reason to it.

It was in the year 1793 when an aristocrat Joseph Dombey set sail from Paris with two very important objects in his possession. He had a meeting scheduled with the then US Secretary and later President Thomas Jefferson. Dombey and Jefferson believed that the Congress would accept those objects.

Unfortunately while he was in the Atlantic Ocean, his ship was captured by pirates after a storm and he was held captive. He died later in the prison. Those objects were sold in the auction.

After some time, France sent another team but by now, the secretary was changed and he paid no attention to those objects and they were rejected.

Those objects were a metre scale and a block of 1 Kilogram.

After that, America never really changed to the metric system. Though now in almost all the large machinery factories like cars etc. and in some other places, the metric units are used.

USA along with Liberia and Myanmar are the only nations in the world who are not using the metric system.
