The most famous prison escape of all time was done by Frank Morris, Clarence Anglin and John Anglin from America's and probably the world's most secured prison.

On 11 June 1962, they escaped from the Alcatraz prison situated about 2 km away from San Francisco in the Alcatraz island. It is said that the planning took many months under the supervision of Frank who was reported to have an IQ of 133.

The holes in their prison was made from spoons and discarded metal blade pieces. They covered the hole from a cardboard.

However, the most interesting part of their plan was the dummy head that they used made of plaster, paint and real human hair to make believe the police during the night check that they are sleeping while they are actually working.

On 12 June, the day after the escape, during the daily morning check an officer saw that three convicts were absent. When he checked Morris' cell, he saw that there was a dummy head on which the paint came off when it rolled over.

After their escape, no one ever really knew their fate. Few bits of wood and life jacket were found but there were no further items. In 1979, after seventeen long years of their search, the case was closed by telling that they died on the way back to the mainland.

The main reason that we can tell why they died was that they had to swim about 2.0 km from the island at night in cold water and they also had to face very strong currents of the water which was thought to be impossible.

However no body was ever found, which may explain their escape. The Anglin brothers were also known for their ability to swim in ice cold water.

Many claims were recieved from many places telling that they found the escaped prisoners or themselves were. Although no further investigation was done. The family of Anglin brothers regularly got letters and flowers from an unknown person for many years.

Whatever might have happened, the story of their escape is one of the most interesting real life mysteries.
